@EKUFootball Game Day: Colonels Open Home Slate Against Charleston Southern Saturday

RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU football will host its first home game of the season on Saturday night when the Colonels square off against Charleston Southern at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium.

The game will air on ESPN+ with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Greg Stotelmyer will handle play-by-play duties with Jim Tirey serving as the analyst and Wes Chandler working as the sideline reporter. The audio broadcast will also be simulcast in the Richmond area on WCYO 100.7 FM, and can be heard worldwide on EKUSports.com

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  This is the first meeting between the Colonels and Buccaneers.
 
-  The last time EKU faced a team from South Carolina was in 2013 against Coastal Carolina. 
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is entering its 54th season playing its home game at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. Since 1969, the Colonels have compiled a 234-62-1 record at home, including 15 unbeaten campaigns. 

-  The Colonels are 72-26-6 all-time in home openers and owns a 44-8 record in home openers played at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. Dating back to 2009, the Colonels have won 11 of their previous 13 home openers. 

-  Through the first two games of the season, EKU boasts the nation's best third-down offense. The Colonels have converted 23 of their 35 third-down opportunities (.657). 

-  EKU is coming off a 59-57 win at Bowling Green in seven overtimes. 

Parker McKinney was 33-of-47 through the air with three touchdowns and 324 yards passing against the Falcons. McKinney also passed TJ Pryor to become EKU's career leader in pass completions.

Jaden Smith set career highs against Bowling Green with seven catches for 102 yards.

Braedon Sloan rushed for two touchdowns in the win over the Falcons, carrying the ball nine times for 56 yards. He also caught the game-winning two-point conversion. 
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
-  Charleston Southern is seeking its first win of the season after falling to Western Carolina, 52-38, and N.C. State, 55-3. 

-  Wide receiver Vinson Davis made nine catches for 35 yards against the Wolfpack. 

-  Punter David Gelb averaged over 45 yards per punt against N.C. State, booming a long of 52 and pinning the Wolfpack inside their own 20 three different times. 

-  Sam Babbush has made field goals of 50 and 48 yards this season for the Buccaneers. 

-  Charleston Southern was picked to finish tied for third in the preseason Big South poll. 

-  Offensive coordinator Klay Koester played at EKU from 2003-05 and coached in Richmond for nine years over two different stints.
