Colonels Set To Make First Conference Road Trip Of The Season

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – After winning its first four Atlantic Sun Conference matches of the season at home, Eastern Kentucky University will make its first conference road trip of the season with two matches in Tennessee.
 
The Colonels, riding a program record tying 13-match winning streak, will play at Lipscomb on Friday at 7 p.m. ET in Nashville.  The road trip concludes on Saturday at Austin Peay with a 3 p.m. ET match.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 14-2 overall and 4-0 in the ASUN Conference.  EKU is ranked 57th in the NCAA Volleyball RPI.  There are 344 NCAA Division I volleyball programs.
 
-  The Colonels' 13-match winning streak is tied with the 2004 team for the longest in program history and tied for the third longest active streak in the nation.
 
-  Sarah Mitchell was chosen as the ASUN Player of the Week on Monday after registering 4.29 kills per set without making a single error in 52 attempts during two matches last week.  She posted a .577 attack percentage.
 
-  Josie Schmitendorf, picked as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week for the third time this season on Monday, leads the conference and is 20th in the nation in digs (5.07/set).
 
-  AG Vandagriff is sixth in the conference with 3.06 kills per set, sixth with a .325 attack percentage and eighth with 3.37 points per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Lipscomb, winners of six in a row, is 9-5 overall and 4-0 in league play.  Among the Bisons' five losses are a 3-0 loss to then fifth ranked Nebraska, a 3-2 setback to Ole Miss and a 3-0 loss at Mississippi State.  
 
-  Jada DiVita leads Lipscomb with 2.92 kills per set.  Three other players average 2.00 or more kills per set for a balanced attack.  Delaney Smith leads the conference with 0.55 aces per set.  The Bisons allow the fewest kills per set (10.34) in the ASUN.
 
-  Austin Peay is 9-8 overall and 2-2 in ASUN matches.  The Governors two league wins came against Central Arkansas (3-0) and Jacksonville (3-2).  Their losses were to North Alabama (3-0) and Lipscomb (3-1).  
 
-  Mikayla Powell leads the team and the ASUN with 3.79 kills per set.  Karli Graham is second in the conference with a .420 attack percentage but has only averaged 1.54 kills per set.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels are 10-2 all-time against Lipscomb.  The first meeting came in 2000.  The Bisons won the most recent meeting 3-0, on Sept. 23, 2022. 
 
-  EKU is 43-27 against Austin Peay.  The first meeting between the long-time conference rivals was in 1980.  The Colonels picked up a 3-0 win over the Governors in Richmond last season.
