With Two Weeks Left In Regular Season, EKU Begins Stretch Of Four Straight On The Road

RICHMOND, Ky. – After concluding the home portion of it schedule with a pair of wins this past weekend, Eastern Kentucky University will take to the road to face Central Arkansas and North Alabama this weekend.
 
Friday's match at UCA will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  EKU will play at North Alabama on Sunday at 2 p.m. ET.  Both matches will air live on ESPN+.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU's weekend sweep of Austin Peay and second-place Lipscomb moved the Colonels to 8-4 in the ASUN and 18-6 overall.  It's the most wins in a season for the program since the 2014 squad went 21-14.
 
-  In the two wins last weekend, sophomore right side AG Vandagriff averaged 3.38 kills and .75 blocks per set while hitting .440.  She registered 27 kills with only five errors in 50 attempts.  Vandagriff had a match-high 14 kills in a sweep of Austin Peay.  She finished with 13 kills in 26 attempts, a .423 attack percentage and four blocks against second-place Lipscomb.
 
-  Josie Schmitendorf averaged 5.13 digs per set this past weekend.  She helped EKU hold its two opponents to a .195 attack percentage and only 1.6 blocks per set.
 
-  Kambree Lucas served up a career-best five aces in the win over Lipscomb.  Three came in the fifth set.  Lucas is fourth in the ASUN with 0.45 aces per set.
 
-  Carson Ledford is second in the ASUN with a .364 attack percentage and eighth in blocks with 0.88 per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Central Arkansas is 7-17 overall and 1-11 in ASUN matches.  The Sugar Bears picked up their first league win on Sunday by beating Stetson 3-1 at home.  
 
-  Laci Bohannan leads the team with 3.29 kills per set.  Allison Holloway averages a team-best 0.71 blocks per set.
 
-  North Alabama enters the weekend 14-10 on the season and 6-6 in conference matches.  The Lions had a four-match winning streak snapped by first-place Florida Gulf Coast on Saturday in Florence.  
 
-  Anna Katherine Griggs leads UNA with 2.78 kills and 0.89 blocks per set.  Luana Bulara is third in the ASUN with 4.60 digs per set.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels are 3-1 against Central Arkansas with the first meeting between the two programs coming during the inaugural ASUN season of 2021.  EKU picked up a 3-0 victory against the Sugar Bears earlier this season in Richmond.  Sarah Mitchell had a team-best 16 kills with no errors for the Colonels.  Bohannan had 14 kills for UCA. 
 
-  EKU is 3-1 all-time against North Alabama.  The first meeting came in 2021.  The Colonels won 3-1 in Richmond in September.  Vandagriff totaled 19 kills for EKU.  Griggs contributed 16 kills for UNA.
