RICHMOND, Ky. –
Senior Michael Moreno broke EKU's career 3-pointers record as the Colonels beat Bethany College, 121-56, on Sunday at Baptist Health Arena.

Moreno entered the game needing one to tie the mark and two to break.  He hit a 3-pointer from the right wing with 3:48 to go in the opening period, tying Matt Witt (2002-06) for the most career 3-pointers in program history with 283.  The Georgetown, Kentucky native secured the record by himself when he knocked in a triple from the right wing with 15:35 left in the game.

Moreno finished with 11 points and five rebounds.

Collin Cooper led the Colonels (4-4) with 20 points to go along with four steals.  John Ukomadu had a double-double with 18 points, a career-best 16 rebounds, three assists, two steals and two blocks.  Montavious Myrick contributed a career-high 11 points.

The Colonels took a 23-point lead, 40-17, on an Ukomadu lay-up with 8:13 to play in the first half.  Devontae Blanton's old-fashioned 3-point play stretched the margin to 26, 46-20.

Head Coach A.W. Hamilton Postgame Comments
"It's been a really tough week.  I lost my coach, lost my mentor and I lost a dear friend.  Coach Hicks, he changed a lot of lives.  He changed the community of Georgetown, Kentucky forever.  The impact and what he did there was unbelievable.  There will never be anything like it.  He's the all-time leader in wins.  I think he's the all-time leader in lives impacted.  He was the greatest.  It's been really tough because of how much coach meant to me and how much he meant to Michael.

Michael did a phenomenal job today at the service.  Michael spoke and I spoke.  It's been a tough week, a tough day.  It's hard to put into words but I was happy for Michael to break the record today and get that behind him.  It was a good day to break the record with all things considered, so I was really happy for Michael.

Michael is the all-time leader in three's made at Eastern Kentucky University.  That's a really big deal. There's been a lot of great players here, there's been a lot of great shooters here, and for Michael Moreno to be the 3-point king is a big deal.  I'm excited for Michael. I really appreciate our fans.  When Michael hit the shot, we called the timeout, and everybody gave him a standing ovation.  That was a really big deal."
