MOBILE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky University capped the Jaguar Classic with an 11-1 victory over Northwestern State on Sunday at South Alabama's Stanky Field.

EKU (3-1) will play its first home game of the 2023 season on Tuesday against Northern Kentucky at Earle Combs Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.

Back-to-back doubles by
Roderick Criss II and
Conner Davis with two outs in the top of the second platted the first two runs of the game.Â
Logan Thomason followed with a single through the left side to score Davis for a 3-0 lead.

Northwestern State got on the board in the bottom half of the second when Bailyn Sorensen led off the inning with a home run over the wall in center field.

The Colonels got another two-out run in the top of the sixth. With
Miguel Larreal and
Ron Franklin Jr. on base,
Jalen Jones doubled to left field to bring home Larreal.

EKU took a 7-1 lead with three runs in the top of the seventh. King and Franklin both had RBI singles.
Larreal hit a home run in the eighth, his first as a Colonel. Franklin belted a 3-run home run in the ninth to set the final score.

Rian Yates started for EKU and allowed one run on three hits in four innings. He struck out three.Â
Brock Blanton (1-0) got the win after pitching a scoreless fifth.Â
Cameron Kalandros (1) earned a four-inning save. He allowed one hit and struck out five.

Franklin finished 2-for-4 with two runs and four RBIs. Larreal went 1-for-3 with two walks, two runs and two RBIs.
