RICHMOND, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University will play in the 2023 Discount Tire College Basketball Invitational (CBI).

The 16-team tournament will be held March 18-22 at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.  The first and second rounds will be televised on FloHoops.  The semifinals and finals will air live on ESPN2.  The complete bracket will be released on Sunday.

This is the second national postseason tournament invitation for the Colonels in the past four seasons.  EKU was invited to the 2020 CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) before it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

First round CBI games will be held March 18-19.  The quarterfinals are on March 20.  The semifinals and finals will be March 21 and 22, respectively.  Tickets are on sale now at TicketMaster.com.

The Colonels are 20-13 this season, the second 20-win season in the last three years.  EKU advanced to the semifinals of the ASUN Conference Tournament, the third time in the last four seasons the program has reached the conference semifinals.

EKU's only other appearance in the CBI was in 2010, when the Colonels fell to the College of Charleston by three in the opening round.  The Colonels have made eight appearances in the NCAA Tournament, including a near upset of No. 2 seed Kansas in 2014.  The program played in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament in 2013 and 2015, winning two games and reaching the quarterfinals in 2015.

This year's team ranks among the top 50 teams in the nation in scoring (77.4/game), is fifth in the NCAA in rebounds (40.27/game), second in offensive rebounds (13.70/game), 22nd in blocks (4.8/game) and 43rd in steals (8/1/game).  The Colonels blocked 11 shots in a game twice this season and broke the program single season record.
