RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU beach volleyball team earned two victories on their home sand on Friday, winning the first three flights for a 3-2 win over Tusculum and surrendering just one set in a 5-0 sweep of Liberty.
EKU took an early lead against the Pioneers as
Elizabeth Fonvielle and
Chloe Mason rallied for a 4-0 deficit in the second set to secure a 21-13, 21-16 win at the No. 5 spot. The Colonels clinched the match on court one as
Hannah Keating and
Shannon Stone scored 18 of the final 23 points in their flight to cruise to a 21-6, 21-11 victory.
The Colonels rolled through their second contest, seizing the momentum when Fonvielle and Mason rallied for a 17-21, 21-16, 15-5 win to put EKU ahead 2-0. The Colonels did not drop another set en route to their second sweep this season over the Flames.
Keating and Walker each earned their 11th victories of the season, while Mueller and Williams notched their 10th win as a duo.
EKU returns to action on Saturday to face Austin Peay at 10:00 a.m. and Tusculum at 4:00 p.m.
