RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU beach volleyball team came up just short in a pair of five-set matches at home on Saturday, falling 3-2 to Austin Peay and Tusculum.Â
EKU battled back from a pair of deficits against the Governors, using a 24-22, 21-15 win from
EK Lonergan and
Maddy Campbell at No. 4 to tie the match at 1-1. Trailing 2-1,
Hannah Keating and
Shannon Stone pulled EKU even again with a 21-15, 21-17 victory on court one before APSU prevailed in a three-set decision in the No. 2 flight.Â
The Colonels fell behind 2-0 against Tusculum, but stormed back behind
Rachel Mueller and
Bella Williams' 22-24, 21-15, 15-12 rally on court three. Keating and Stone tied the match moments later with a 21-11, 21-19 win of their own before another three-set decision on court two decided the match.
Keating and Stone improved their winning streak to four consecutive matches, while Mueller and Williams picked up their 11th victory together this season.
EKU travels to Chattanooga on Mar. 31-Apr. 1 for matches against Liberty, Chattanooga, Carson-Newman, and UT Martin.Â
