Box Score

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Will King staked Eastern Kentucky University to an early lead at No. 12 Tennessee with a solo home run in the first, but the Volunteers pulled away for a 14-2 victory in seven innings on Tuesday at Lindsey Nelson Stadium.

With two outs in the first, King sent a blast over the left field wall for his sixth home run of the season.  Tennessee (23-10) answered in the bottom half of the inning with a two-run home run off the bat of Blake Burke.

Christian Moore's three-run home run capped a four-run fourth inning for UT and pushed the home team out in front 6-1.  Matthew Corlew hit a solo home run for the Colonels (13-19) in the top of the fifth but that is as close as EKU got.

Tennessee put together another four-run inning in the bottom of the fifth, including two more home runs.  The game ended in the seventh inning on Reese Chapman's three-run home run.

King finished the night 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.  Corlew was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI.

Burke led the Vols with a 2-for-3 performance with a run and two RBIs.

The Colonels will host No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast for a three-game ASUN Conference series this weekend.  Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m.
