ATLANTA – EKU golfer
Rylea Marcum, a junior from Georgetown, Ky., was named to the ASUN Third Team All-Conference announced by the league office from its headquarters in Georgia on Friday afternoon.
Friday's award is EKU's third ASUN postseason honor in two seasons as a member institution in the conference and the 60th postseason honor in the history of the program.
The local product led Eastern Kentucky University throughout its 2022-23 campaign, posting three top-10 finishes, five top-15 finishes, and six top-25 finishes in the Colonels' 11 events on the season, including a T2nd-place finish at the Redbird Invite to open the season and a 3rd place finish at the Jackrabbit Invite on March 14.
In a team-leading 33 rounds played during the 2022-23 season, Marcum led EKU with a 74.33 scoring average on 2,453 strokes.
Marcum had a team-leading six rounds this season at or below par, two rounds more than the next Colonel in the final standings, including a season-low round of 69 (-3) in the second round of the JSI in Boulder Creek, Nev., leading to a season-low 211 (-5) three-round total.
Her efforts in the Jackrabbit Spring Invitational led to a selection as the ASUN Golfer of the Week on March 16, EKU's only nod of the season and the third weekly honor of Marcum's career.
Marcum and EKU look to continue their strong 2022-23 campaign next week at the 2023 ASUN Women's Golf Championship in Owens Crossroads, Ala. at RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove, first-round action is set to begin on Sunday, April 16, and go through Tuesday, April 18.
