JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The sixth-seeded EKU beach volleyball team concluded the best season in program history with a pair of losses at the ASUN Beach Conference Tournament on Friday. The Colonels fell 5-0 to third-seeded host North Florida and 3-2 to seventh-seeded Austin Peay.
Against the Ospreys, the Colonels forced a third set on court two as
Hannah Keating and
Paityn Walker claimed set one before ultimately falling in three. EKU trailed 1-0 in the second match of the day, but took a 2-1 lead as
Chloe Mason and
Bailey Rima fought to a 21-17, 20-22, 15-9 victory at the No. 5 flight and
Sarah Mitchell and
Rachel Mueller followed with a 21-16, 21-11 win at No. 3. However, the Governors earned wins on the top two courts to take the match.
Mitchell notched her 31st career individual victory against Austin Peay, giving her the most in program history. Keating ended the season with 20 individual wins, setting another school record.
As a team, the Colonels shattered the program record for wins in a season. EKU won eight of its 15 victories by sweep.
