EKU Hosts Jacksonville State in Alumni Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. – Coming off two midweek wins, EKU softball (23-19, 5-10 ASUN) welcomes Jacksonville State (26-14, 12-3 ASUN) for a three-game series on April 22-23 at Gertrude Hood Field.
 
EKU is also set to welcome over 70 former softball student-athletes back to Richmond who have helped the Colonels to over 860 wins, three OVC championships, and three appearances in the NCAA Tournament.
 
This weekend's softball slate is scheduled to begin in doubleheader fashion on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. ET, game two will follow around 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The series will wrap up in a lone game on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. ET. Fans can purchase tickets on the Colonels' website ranging as low as $2-5 for the series.
 
Through 15 ASUN Conference games, EKU sits at 5-10 in league play having swept Jacksonville and singular wins over North Alabama and Florida Gulf Coast. The JSU series is one of three ASUN series remaining on the 2023 slate, EKU sits tied for 10th-place with Lipscomb and Kennesaw State.
 
In ASUN play, junior Jeanay Riley leads EKU with a .349 batting average with 15 hits and one triple, she had four hits in her last two games over Morehead State. Madison Scott follows with a .313 average with 10 hits and two doubles.
 
Vianna Barron and Maggie Pertee have each tallied two home runs having started in all 15 of EKU's conference games. Barron leads the ASUN in hits and runs batted in per game.
 
Freshman pitcher Brooke Davis continues her hot streak from the circle with a 3-2 record and a 3.92 ERA in ASUN play. Lauren Narvaez leads the Colonels with 49.2 innings and 18 strikeouts in the one slot.
 
Scouting Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State owns an 26-14 record and a 12-3 mark in ASUN play with series victories over North Alabama, Bellarmine, North Florida, and Queens. The Gamecocks are coming off a 3-0 loss at No. 21 Auburn on Wednesday night.
 
Three JSU players are hitting above .300 on the season, led by junior Lindsey Richardson who has 46 hits in 112 at bats, including seven home runs and 34 at bats. The Moody, Ala. native has at least one hit in her last six games, going 3-for-3 against Georgia Tech and Queens.
 
Freshman pitcher Jaliyah Holmes leads the Gamecocks with a 14-5 record from the circle with a 1.84 ERA and 115 strikeouts.
