NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Coming off a series win last weekend against Jacksonville State, EKU softball buses to Lipscomb for a three-game set with big ASUN Conference implications beginning Saturday at Draper Diamond.
This weekend's softball slate is set for a doubleheader beginning at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, the series will conclude on Sunday at 12 p.m. ET. Fans looking to make the trip to the Music City can purchase tickets on LipscombSports.com. All three games this weekend are available on ESPN+.
EKU enters the weekend winners of 9 of its last 13 games with midweek wins over Northern Kentucky and Morehead State. The Colonels have also claimed their last two conference series over Jacksonville and Jacksonville State, winning five of six.
Senior
Lou Bowers enters the series as the reigning ASUN Player of the Week after belting three homers and seven RBIs over JSU. Her three home runs last weekend moved her to 11 on the season which is first on the team second in the ASUN.
Also coming off a three-homer performance last weekend, first basemen
Vianna Barron continues to lead EKU with a .387 batting average with a .700 slugging percentage and .465 on base percentage. Barron also leads the Colonels in hits (58), doubles (13), and RBIs (43). She ranks first in the ASUN in hits and 32nd nationally.
Pitcher
Lauren Narvaez (13-15) enters the week seven of conference play with 164 innings pitched with 61 strikeouts. Narvaez has appeared in 36 of EKU's 46 contests.
EKU enters the weekend top three in the conference in batting average, double plays per game, doubles, doubles per game, home runs, home runs per game, scoring, on base percentage, slugging percentage, and walks.
Scouting Lipscomb
Lipscomb sits at 18-26 on the season and 6-12 in ASUN play going into the weekend. Through six series, LU has dropped five against Jacksonville, Stetson, Queens, Austin Peay, and Kennesaw State. Three of Lipscomb's six conference wins have come against Bellarmine.
Senior outfielder Presley Leebrick leads the Bisons with a .323 batting average, 41 hits, 17 runs, and 61 total bases. She's recorded at least one hit in six of her last seven games, including multi-hit performances against APSU and KSU.
Senior pitcher Emily Yakubowski (10-13) has totaled seven complete games on the season with 121.2 total innings, 95 strikeouts, and 56 walks.
