White Defeats Maroon In Spring Game

RICHMOND, Ky. – The EKU football team wrapped up spring practice on Saturday afternoon with the annual Maroon & White spring game as the White team defeated the Maroon Team 20-0 at Roy Kidd Stadium

The White team took an early lead as Cameron Hergott found Jackson Hensley for a 34-yard touchdown on the opening possession. White extended its lead on the ensuing drive when Patrick Nations connected on a 37-yard field goal. The White defense forced a turnover on Maroon's next possession as Nic Cheeley scooped up a fumble and returned it to the Maroon 25-yard line. Two plays later, Hergott raced to the end zone to put the White team up 17-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Nations drilled a 46-yarder late in the second quarter as the White team took a 20-0 lead into halftime. Neither team scored in the second half, which featured a running clock. 

Hergott completed 5-of-8 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown and also rushed 12 times for 69 yards. Kyeandre Magloire led all rushers with 110 yards on 25 carries. Hensley caught two passes for 45 yards. 

Defensively, David Reynolds led the Maroon team with six tackles and a sack while Ryan Jackson added four tackles, one sack, and a pass deflection. The White defense was paced by Jeremiah Bailey, who totaled five tackles, two tackles for loss, a sack, and a pass deflection.

The Colonels are scheduled to open the 2022 season on Sept. 2 at Cincinnati.
