Colonels Drop Series at Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Eastern Kentucky University softball team (25-24, 7-14 ASUN) drops all three of its ASUN Conference series set at Lipscomb (21-26, 9-12 ASUN) by scores of 7-0, 4-1, and 8-6 ending on Sunday afternoon at Draper Diamond.

With this weekend's results, EKU slides into 13th place in the ASUN softball standings with one series remaining.

The Colonels were held to seven runs on the weekend, six of EKU's runs came in the series finale, powered by a Maggie Pertee 3-run home run in the seventh inning, her ninth homer of the season.

Pertee ended the weekend going 6-for-7 (.857) from the plate with a homer, two walks, and three runs batted in.

Freshman Lilly Davis brought in one of EKU's other runs on the weekend with a double in game two. Jeanay Riley notched the other after perfectly executing a squeeze bunt single in the bottom of the seventh of game three to narrow the Colonels' deficit to three.

During games two and three, the Colonels were led with multi-hit performances by Pertee, Riley, and Vianna Barron

All three of EKU's starting pitchers; Lauren Narvaez (13-16), Brooke Davis (7-5), and Emma Bethel (4-3) earned losses in the set. Davis led the Colonels with three strikeouts on the weekend, moving her total to 33 in her freshman campaign.

EKU will conclude the regular season next weekend hosting Bellarmine (4-42, 1-20 ASUN) on Friday and Saturday. Saturday's doubleheader against the Knights will be Senior Day at Gertrude Hood Field, tickets can be purchased on EKUsports.com.
