Colonels Fall In 11 Innings At Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. –
Eastern Kentucky University jumped out to a two-run lead before falling 3-2 in 11 innings at Jacksonville University on Thursday.
 
Hayden Duffield staked EKU (12-17, 3-7 ASUN) to a 1-0 advantage in the top of the second inning with a sacrifice fly.  Miguel Larreal's RBI single to left field in the top of the fifth made it a 2-0 game.  The Dolphins (21-10, 6-4 ASUN) tied it with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.  Elias Flowers scored the tying run on an error.
 
With the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the 10th for the Dolphins, Bryce Travis struck out Chandler Howard to keep the game tied.  Jacksonville loaded the bases again in the 11th, this time with no outs.  Travis got another strike out before Chase Malloy hit a fly ball to center field that scored Blake DeLamielleure.
 
Duffield finished 2-for-4 with a run and an RBI.  Isaac Milburn started and held JU to two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits through five and one-third innings.  He walked three and struck out three.
 
Evan Chrest pitched six innings for Jacksonville, allowing six hits, two runs and four walks while striking out six.  Malloy was 2-for-3 with the game-winning RBI.
 
Game two of the series has been changed to Friday at 2 p.m.  The series finale was changed to Saturday at 11 a.m.
