RICHMOND, Ky. – The two teams scored early, but not often, as Eastern Kentucky University dropped the series finale to visiting Liberty, 6-1, on Sunday at Earle Combs Stadium.

Will King gave EKU a 1-0 lead in the first inning with a single through the left side that scored
Logan Thomason. Liberty had the answer in the top of the second. With two on, John Simmons hit a triple into the corner down the right field line to bring in both runners.

Neither team scored again until the top of the eighth inning. Three Hillier's two-run home run highlighted a three-run frame that gave the Flames (24-27, 14-13 ASUN) a 5-1 lead.

Miguel Larreal had two hits in five at bats for the Colonels (27-26, 14-13 ASUN). King was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Starter
Michael Schuler limited the visitors to two runs on three hits in five innings.

Hillier finished 1-for-3 with a run and two RBIs for Liberty. Mikey Tepper (4-3) started for the Flames and allowed one run on three hits in six innings. He struck out 13.

The Colonels will close out the 2023 regular season with a three-game series at Central Arkansas starting on Thursday.
