RICHMOND, Ky. – To conclude the regular season, EKU softball completes a sweep of in-state Bellarmine by a shutout score of 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Gertrude Hood Field.
With Saturday's result, the Colonels end their 2023 campaign with a record of 28-24 and 10-14 in ASUN Conference play.
EKU ended its season winners of three ASUN series, including sweeps over Jacksonville and Bellarmine.
Sophomore
Maggie Pertee led the Colonels going 2-for-2 from the plate bringing in EKU's only run of the day. The Uniontown, Ohio native went 14-for-19 in the team's last eight games of the season and ends the year with a .367 batting average.
Senior
Lou Bowers places a cap in her EKU collegiate career going 1-for-2 in Saturday's finale with her first career triple in the second inning. She departs EKU after five years with a career .267 batting average and 18 home runs.
Freshman
Brooke Davis (9-5) earned the win, tossing back-to-back complete games and a total of 10 strikeouts over the series. With nine wins in her first collegiate season, Davis totaled the most wins by a freshman since 2017.
With Saturday's results, EKU moves to 6-0 over the Knights since joining the ASUN in 2022.
