RICHMOND, Ky. – Four EKU football players were chosen to the Community Trust Bank 2023 Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team presented by the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame. The Colonels selected are Payton Collins, Ryan Jackson, Parker McKinney, and Braedon Sloan

The Kentucky Collegiate All-Commonwealth Team is a pre-season recognition award for football players attending a Kentucky college or university.  The All-Commonwealth Team designation/award honors select players whose dedication to the game has contributed significantly to their teams, and who lead their teammates in the classroom and on the field.  These nominated players represent some of the most outstanding athletes in the Commonwealth.

The All-Commonwealth Team will be recognized during the Kentucky Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on June 23.  The ceremony will air live on WTVQ Channel 36 at 7 p.m.

Collins, a redshirt junior offensive lineman from Columbus, Ohio, was named a Fourth-Team Phil Steele/DraftScout All-American and an FCS Athletic Directors Association Academic All-Star Team member. He started all 12 games at left tackle and anchored an offensive line that helped EKU tally its highest point total ever in a season.

Jackson is a junior defensive lineman from Mount Juliet, Tenn. He played in all 12 games and made seven starts last season. Jackson concluded the 2022 campaign with 24 tackles, including 3.5 tackles for loss. He finished with a career-high five tackles and one tackle for loss against Sam Houston and added 1.5 tackles for loss against Jacksonville State.

McKinney, a redshirt senior quarterback from Coalfield, Tenn., was named a Walter Payton Award Finalist and a Third-Team Stats Perform All-American along with being named the ASUN Co-Offensive Player of the Year. He became EKU's career leader in total offense, touchdown passes, passing yards, pass completions, and pass attempts, while setting single-season records for passing yards, completions, attempts, and touchdowns.

Sloan, a Frazer, Ky., native, started all 12 games at running back and led EKU with 629 yards rushing on 147 carries. He also caught 42 passes for 506 yards and three touchdowns while returning 15 kicks for 484 yards. He rushed 20 times for 88 yards, both career highs, and a touchdown while catching five passes for 68 yards and a touchdown against Southern Utah.
