Parker McKinney Named 2023 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American

RICHMOND, Ky.  Redshirt senior quarterback Parker McKinney earned his third preseason All-American honor on Tuesday when he was named to the 2023 Stats Perform FCS Preseason All-American Third Team.

McKinney, a native of Coalfield, Tenn., is the Phil Steele UAC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and enters the season as FCS active career leader in touchdown passes and passing yards. He was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award last season and earned ASUN Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors. McKinney is coming off an All-American season for the Colonels in 2022, setting EKU records for career total offense, touchdown passes, passing yards, pass completions, and pass attempts, as well as single-season records for completions, attempts, completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. 

The Phil Steele ASUN Offensive Player of the Year threw for over 300 yards in nine different games and topping 400 passing yards twice while rushing for a career-best eight touchdowns during the season. He was named a Bluebloods Preseason All-American in June, a Phil Steele Preseason All-American in July, and is on the East-West Shrine Bowl 1000 list.

McKinney and the Colonels open fall practice on Aug. 2 and kicks off the season on Sept. 2 at Cincinnati. Fans are invited to meet the team at Colonel Fan Day presented by Meijer on Saturday, August 26 at CG Bank Field at Roy Kidd Stadium. The event is free to attend and will begin at 5:00 p.m. with an open scrimmage scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
