ROCK HILL, S.C. – Riding their longest winning streak since 2005, the Colonels will wrap up non-conference play with two matches at Winthrop University this weekend.

Eastern Kentucky University will face the host Eagles at 6 p.m. on Friday and wrap up play in the Winthrop Invitational on Saturday against Virginia Commonwealth at 2 p.m.

THE COLONELS
- EKU is 8-2 overall and riding a 7-match winning streak. It's the longest winning streak for the program since the 2005 team won eight in a row, twice. The Colonels haven't lost a set in their last six matches.

-  The Maroon and White swept the Geri Polvino Invitational last weekend with wins over Murray State, Georgia State and Chattanooga. Murray State entered the event with only one loss this season. Chattanooga made it to the championship match with an 8-1 record.

Carson Ledford earned GPI MVP honors and was chosen as the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week. In four matches last week she averaged 3.00 kills with a .457 attack percentage and six blocks in 12 sets.Â
Josie Schmitendorf was picked as the ASUN Defensive Player of the Week. She averaged 6.08 digs per set last week.

- Ledford is now third in the ASUN with a .387 attack percentage and sixth in blocks with 1.03 per set. Schmitendorf leads the league with 4.94 digs per set.

- The Colonels are first in the nation with 14.00 assists per set. EKU is second in the country, and first in the ASUN, with 14.94 kills per set. The team leads the league and is ninth in the NCAA with 17.38 digs per set.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
- Winthrop sits at 0-9 on the season. The Eagles have faced Wyoming, Rutgers, North Carolina State, Clemson and No. 3 ranked Florida. Avery Jolley leads the team with 2.81 kills per set. Alicia Roberts is blocking 1.07 attacks per set. Â

- VCU enters the weekend at 3-5 overall. The Rams will play South Carolina on Friday. Kialah Jefferson is averaging a team-best 3.21 kills per set average and contributes 2.58 digs per set. Anja Kujundzic leads the team with 4.07 digs per set.
