Colonels Wrap Up Four-Match Homestand This Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. –
Riding the third longest active winning streak in the nation, Eastern Kentucky University will close out a 4-match homestand with two Atlantic Sun Conference tilts this weekend.
 
The Colonels, winners of 11 in a row, will play North Alabama on Friday at 6 p.m.  EKU will take on Central Arkansas on Saturday at 4 p.m.
 
Friday will be 2010's Night at the match.  Fans will hear 2010's tunes throughout the match and enjoy fun in-game content.  Saturday will be Movie & Kid's Day.  FREE popcorn will be given to the first 100 fans and there will be fun in-game promotions and music from your favorite movies.  Kid's 12 and under may claim two FREE tickets by clicking this link.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU is 12-2 overall and 2-0 in the ASUN Conference.  The Colonels are one of four teams in the league who have not lost a conference match.
 
-  The Colonels' 11-match winning streak is tied for the third longest active streak in the nation and the longest for the program since the 2004 team won a record 13 straight.  EKU is off to its best start ever through 14 matches.
 
-  Carson Ledford was chosen as the ASUN Player of the Week on Monday after averaging 3.13 kills and 1.00 blocks in two matches last week.  She is second in the conference in hitting percentage (.421) and fourth in blocks (1.13/set).
 
-  Josie Schmitendorf leads the conference, and is 22nd in the nation, in digs (4.98/set).
 
-  EKU is first in the nation with 14.68 kills per set and first with 13.70 assists per set.  The Colonels are 14th in the NCAA with 16.96 digs per set and 15th in attacks per set (37.23).
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  North Alabama is 10-5 this season and has a 2-1 ASUN mark.  The Lions first three conference matches have been at home – wins over Central Arkansas (3-1) and Austin Peay (3-0) before a loss to Lipscomb (3-0).  
 
-  Anna Katherine Griggs leads UNA with 2.83 kills per set and a team-best 0.97 blocks per set.  She is first in the ASUN with a .436 attack percentage.  Luana Bulara is third in the conference with 4.36 digs per set.
 
-  Central Arkansas stands at 6-9 overall and 0-3 in the ASUN Conference.  The Sugar Bears have lost league matches at North Alabama (3-1) and at home against Lipscomb (3-2) and Austin Peay (3-0).  
 
-  Charleston Tidwell leads the Sugar Bears with 2.90 kills per set.  Taylor Lilly contributes 2.38 kills per set and has a team-best 20 aces.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 2-1 all-time against North Alabama.  The first meeting came in 2021.  The Lions picked up a 3-0 win in Florence last season. 
 
-  The Colonels are also 2-1 against Central Arkansas with the first meeting between the two programs coming during the inaugural ASUN season of 2021.  The Sugar Bears earned a 3-1 victory in Conway last year.
