RICHMOND, Ky. – AG Vandagriff and
Sarah Mitchell led an offensive attack that posted a .300 attack percentage as Eastern Kentucky University beat North Alabama, 3-1, on Friday at Baptist Health Arena.

Vandagriff finished with a match-best 19 kills, only three errors and a .516 attack percentage. Mitchell had 14 kills and no errors in 25 attempts for a .560 attack percentage. She also added 16 digs.
Down 19-18 in the first set, the Colonels (13-2, 3-0 ASUN) scored three straight to take the lead for good. Mitchell's kill tied it for the 13th time in the set at 19-19. Back-to-back North Alabama (10-6, 1-2 ASUN) errors made it 21-19 in favor of the home team.
Carson Ledford's kill gave EKU set-point at 24-21. Vandagriff finished it off with a kill for a 25-23 win.
The Colonels fell behind by seven several times in the second set, including 15-8 on a kill by Anna Katherine Griggs. From that point on, EKU outscored the Lions 15-10, but it wasn't enough. An ace from
Madi Tolzman capped an 11-4 run and tied the set at 19-19. EKU took a 1-point lead three times, including 23-22 on a UNA service error. However, North Alabama scored the final three points to win the set 25-23 and tie the match 1-1.
The teams reversed roles in the third set. EKU jumped out to the big lead, 18-9, and the Lions rallied. A 12-5 run got the visitors within two, 23-21. A service error by UNA handed the Colonels set point at 24-21. Moments later an attack error by North Alabama ended the set, 25-22.
It was all EKU in the fourth. The home team jumped out to a 5-1 lead, went in front 10-4 on a kill from Tolzman, and led by eight, 14-6, after another kill from Tolzman. North Alabama scored on a kill from Katy Floyd to make it 14-7, but the Colonels rolled off seven unanswered to go on top by 14, 21-7.
Katie McKune's kill finished off the set, 25-11, and concluded the match.
Tolzman finished with seven kills in 18 attempts.
Chloe Mason had 29 assists and three aces.
Josie Schmitendorf led all players with 24 digs.
EKU had 11 aces compared to five for the Lions. The Colonels held a 6-3 edge in blocks.
