RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University made just 12 errors and hit .301 on its way to a 3-0 victory over Marshall on Tuesday at Baptist Health Arena.
 
Kambree Lucas finished with a team-best 12 kills for the Colonels (5-2), who won for the fourth straight time.  Lucas made just one error and hit .407 while adding 13 digs and two aces.
 
Carson Ledford and 
AG Vandagriff combined for 17 kills and only three errors.  Ledford hit .444 after making only one error in 18 attempts.  Vandagriff posted a .316 attack percentage.
 
The Colonels never trailed in the first two sets of the match.
 
EKU grabbed a 9-3 lead to start the first set.  Kills by Ledford and Vandagriff made it 17-9.  The Thundering Herd closed the gap to one on four occasions.  However, the Colonels scored the final two points of the set to win it 25-22.
 
A 10-3 start to the second set allowed the home squad to cruise to a 9-point win.  
Sarah Mitchell's kill ended it at 25-16.
 
The score was tied eight times in the third set.  The final tie came at 12-12 on a kill from Marshall's Lydia Montague.  From that point, the Colonels used a 7-3 run to build a 4-point cushion.  A kill from Lucas capped it and made it 19-15.  Ledford's service ace finished off the set, 25-19, and secured the sweep.
 
Montague led all players with 15 kills for the Thundering Herd (3-5).
 
Josie Schmitendorf had a team-high 18 digs for EKU.  
Chloe Mason finished with 27 assists and 12 digs.
 
As part of Alumni Weekend, the Colonels will host the four-team Geri Polvino Invitational starting Friday.  Chattanooga and Georgia State will get things started at 10 a.m. on Friday.  EKU will face Murray State at 12:30 p.m.  Murray State and Chattanooga will battle at 3 p.m.  The day ends with the Colonels playing Georgia State at 6 p.m.
 
Saturday's action starts at 11 a.m. when Murray State and Georgia State take the court.  EKU closes out the event at 1:30 p.m. against Chattanooga.
