RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU has signed head beach volleyball coach Jeff Patton to a contract through the 2026 season, Vice President and Director of Athletics Matt Roan announced on Wednesday. Patton is entering his third season as head coach at EKU.
In 2023, the Colonels won a program-record 15 matches, including eight victories by sweep, and posted a winning record in the regular season for the first time ever. The Colonels set program records for most wins in a season, highest winning percentage, longest winning streak, longest road/neutral winning streak, and best start to a season.  "First, I would like to thank Matt Roan, Kirk Moats, and the University for believing in my leadership," said Patton. "I'm very proud of the things we've accomplished up to this point. I truly believe we're building something special and I'm honored to be part of this EKU Beach family. I can't wait to continue leading this program in reaching new heights."

"I'm pleased for Jeff to continue leading beach volleyball and equally excited to see him continue elevating our team to new heights year after year," Roan said. "Even more, Jeff is building a true program with great opportunities ahead."

Patton has overseen the two winningest seasons in program history in his first two years at the helm. Last season, EKU won eight of its first 10 matches and notched its first wins ever over Austin Peay, Chattanooga, and Morehead State. All 10 of the 10 best single-season records by an individual in EKU program history have occurred under Patton's guidance.
