NASHVILLE, Tenn. – In a match between two of the top four teams in the Atlantic Sun Conference standings, Eastern Kentucky University ost to Lipscomb, 3-1, on Saturday in Nashville.

The Bisons won the match by scores of 19-25, 25-20, 25-15 and 25-20.

Kambree Lucas led the Colonels (17-8, 8-4 ASUN) with 11 kills.Â
AG Vandagriff had 10 kills and three blocks.Â
Josie Schmitendorf finished with a match-high 20 digs.

EKU scored eight of the first 10 points of the match. A kill from Lucas made it 8-2. After the Bisons closed to within three, 13-10, on a solo block from Karlie McNabb, the Colonels scored four straight.Â
Carson Ledford capped the quick run with a kill for a 17-10 lead. Back-to-back Lipscomb attack errors ended the set, 25-19.

With the second set tied at 17-17, the Bisons scored three straight to build a cushion. Two kills from Courtney Jones and an attack error put the home team in front 20-17. Berkley Mischler secured the set with a kill for a 25-20 victory.

The Colonels had a 3-point lead early in the third before a 6-0 run by Lipscomb changed the momentum. Sophia Hudepohl's ace capped the run and put the home team on top by three, 11-8. Another run, this time four straight, allowed the Bisons to build a 6-point advantage, 16-10, after an ace from Libby Steinhart. McNabb's kill ended the set, 25-15, and staked her squad to a 2-1 advantage in the match.

EKU had a 12-11 edge in the fourth after a service error, but Lipscomb used another run to seize control. This time the Bisons rolled off three straight and won seven of the next eight points. Mischler's kill and a Colonel attack error made it 18-13. A block from McNabb and Mischler ended the set, 25-20, and the match.

Jones had a match-high 18 kills for Lipscomb (13-10, 10-2 ASUN). McNabb had 14 kills and Mischler had five blocks.

The Bisons hit .333 as a team, finishing with just 16 attack errors in 141 attempts. LU also had a 12-4 edge in blocks.

EKU will play host to in-state conference rival Bellarmine on Tuesday at the Rick Erdmann Olympic Sports Training Center. The match will begin at 6 p.m. ET.
