Colonels Prepare for Senior Day Showdown Against UNA

RICHMOND, Ky. – Saturday marks the final home game of the 2024 regular season for Eastern Kentucky University's football team as the Colonels take on the Lions of North Alabama.

Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET at CG Bank Field Roy Kidd Stadium. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and simulcast on WCYO 100.7 FM, with Greg Stotelmyer, Jim Tirey, and Wes Chandler on the call.

Saturday will be Senior Day for EKU and will mark the final home game for the 21 seniors that make up this team's roster.

On top of that, the Colonels could finish the season undefeated at home. If accomplished, it will be the first time since 2010 that the feat has been accomplished by EKU.

EKU returns home on a four-game win streak including its most recent win, a 17-point comeback, overtime win against Austin Peay.

The Colonels and Lions have only met twice before Saturday's contest with EKU winning both including last year's matchup which ended with a 32-22 win for the Colonels.

The Colonels
In the dramatic win over the Governors, running back Joshua Carter scored his third-straight winning touchdown with a 23-yard game-winning run, in overtime.

In the game, Carter eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards on the season and 2,000 rushing yards in a career.

This season, Carter has scored in nine straight games, with seven touchdowns in the last four games.

EKU's defense stepped up in a major way in last week's win, holding the Governors to only 71 yards of total offense in the second half and overtime, shutting APSU out in the second half.

Scouting The Lions
UNA comes to Richmond on a three-game losing skid including a 38-26 road loss to Southern Utah last week.

On the flip side, the Lions have been the only team to defeat the UAC champions, Abilene Christian, upsetting the Wildcats 47-34 back on Oct. 12.

On the season, ball security has been a problem for UNA entering Saturday's contest with a -12 turnover margin with 24 total turnovers this season.

The Lions' biggest threat offensively lies with seven-year veteran Takairee Kenebrew at wide receiver.

Kenebrew holds the UNA program record for touchdown receptions in a career with 30.

Freshman running back Jalen Fletcher also presents danger for opposing defenses as a finalist for the Jerry Rice Award which is given to the top freshman in FCS football each season.
