EKU Rolls Past Campbellsville-Harrodsburg

BEREA, Ky. –
Eastern Kentucky University closed the first half on a 9-0 run and strung together a 21-0 second half run on its way to a 98-62 victory over Campbellsville University Harrodsburg at the Seabury Center in Berea, Kentucky on Friday.
 
EKU led by 10 several times in the first half before finally building a larger lead in the closing minutes.  A 3-pointer from the right wing by George Kimble III pushed the margin to 12 for the first time, 45-33 with 3:30 to go.  After the Pioneers closed back to 10 on a layup from Elijah Frye, the Colonels closed the opening period with nine straight. 
 
Yvens Paul started it with a layup.  Jackson Holt's 3-pointer and two free throws from Tyler Andrews capped the run.  EKU went to the locker room on top 54-35.
 
The Colonels grabbed 18 offensive rebounds in the first half and out-scored Campbellsville-Harrodsburg 17-2 in points off turnovers.
 
Kimble's 3-pointer a little over a minute into the second half gave his squad a 20-point lead, 57-37.  Another big run, fueled by 3-pointers from Kimble on three straight possessions, pushed the margin to 30-plus for the first time.  His first came from the right wing.  His second, from the left wing made it 74-44.  The third was from the right corner. 
 
EKU scored 21 unanswered, holding the visitors scoreless for 7:29.  A layup from freshman Micah Davis capped it and handed the Colonels an 83-44 advantage.
 
Holt's three free throws extended the gap past forty points, 88-46, with 8:09 left in the game. 
 
Kimble led all players with 23 points, finishing 5-for-10 from long range.  He also had five rebounds, three assists and three steals.  Devontae Blanton scored nine points, grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out five assists.
 
The Colonels finished with 27 offensive rebounds, and out-rebounded CU-Harrodsburg by 22, 57-35.
 
EKU will go on the road to face No. 18 Pittsburgh on Wednesday.
