RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's
John Ukomadu will compete in the 2024 State Farm College Slam Dunk Championship during the Final Four in Phoenix.

The 35th Annual State Farm College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships will be held on April 4 at Global Credit Union Arena on the campus of Grand Canyon University. The event will begin at 9 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN.

Ukomadu will be one of eight participants in the dunk competition. There will be three rounds of dunks. Four contestants will advance to the semifinals and two will advance to the championship round.

The 6-foot-7 Southfield, Michigan native is the second EKU player to participate in the Slam Dunk Championship. Marcus Lewis won the title on April 3, 2014 in Dallas, defeating Cory Jefferson of Baylor in the finals. Lewis earned a spot in the competition by winning the "State Farm Dark Horse Dunker" Facebook competition, a 16-player bracket-style elimination competition with fans voting to determine the winner in each round.

Ukomadu averaged 5.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game for EKU this season.

The Colonels captured the 2023-24 Atlantic Sun Conference Regular Season Championship. It was the program's first regular season conference title since 1978-79.
