RICHMOND, Ky. – EKU's beach volleyball team will head to DeLand, Fla. for the opening round of the ASUN Championship tomorrow as the No. 5 overall seed and will face off against No. 4 North Alabama at 11 a.m. ET.
All matches will be streamed live via ESPN+.
The Colonels enter the tournament with a 16-12 record on the season, the most wins of any team in program history.
EKU is led by the duo of
Paityn Walker and
Sarah Mitchell, the winningest pair in EKU history in a season, recording double-digits wins for the second time in the pairs career.
The duo is 1-1 on the season against the Lions defeating them back in March.
The Colonels will also look to ASUN All-Freshman selection
Riley Cutler along with partner
Madalyn Richardson who have come on strong for EKU at the No. 3 spot this season with multiple wins over ASUN competition.
The Maroon and White will look to win their first match at the conference tournament in program history.
Scouting the Lions
UNA has defeated the Colonels, in the two previous meetings this season.
The Lions have two pairs that have been named to the ASUN's All-Conference Team in Paula Klemper and Taylor Seney, and Katy Floyd and Selma Robinson.
Entering the tournament, UNA is 20-11, and 5-3 against ASUN competition.
