RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's head football coach,
Walt Wells, officially announced on Wednesday morning the promotion of
Brady Keeran to the role of tight ends coach for the Colonels.
Keeran earns the promotion after joining EKU in 2023 as a senior analyst primarily focused on the offense.
"Excited to announce the promotion of Brady to our tight ends coach," said Wells on the coaching move. "He has been in our offensive system for over a year and shown the enthusiasm and knowledge of both the position and our offense. He will also be a huge help with our special teams."
In 2023, Keeran played a pivotal role in the Colonels' success, contributing to a United Athletic Conference-best 4,811 yards of total offense, averaging 437.4 yards per game, a mark that ranked eighth best in all of FCS.
EKU also boasted the best red zone offense in the UAC, scoring points on 92% of trips inside the 25-yard line.
In the tight ends' room, Keeran inherits
Hunter Brown, a unanimous All-UAC first team selection from 2023, who led the conference with 387 receiving yards and three touchdowns for his position.
Originally from Ashland, Ky., Keeran brings a wealth of experience, having worked with four different programs before joining EKU, most recently serving as a special teams quality control coach at Memphis.
Before his tenure at Memphis, Keeran spent a season as an offensive graduate assistant at Buffalo, focusing on wide receivers. Prior to that, he served as a special teams and offensive graduate assistant for two years at Murray State, working with tight ends and running backs.
Keeran's coaching journey began at Kentucky, where he spent three seasons as a special teams and defensive assistant with a focus on defensive backs. A 2020 graduate of UK, he contributed to the Wildcats' success, aiding in two bowl victories in 2018 and 2019, as well as supporting the team's recruiting efforts.
