CINCINNATI – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis team picked up a win on its top court in singles by reigning Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week,
Nuno Pinheiro, but were unable to put pressure on other courts to fall to Xavier by a score of 6-1 on Friday afternoon.
Pinheiro defeated Xavier's Ryan Cahill in comeback fashion 2-6, 7-6, 12-10 to earn EKU's only point in the match. The junior from Portugal pushes his unbeaten streak in singles play to 6-0 this season with his win on Friday.
EKU (3-6) battled in doubles play pushing the set to six games on court Nos. 2 and 3 but lost the crucial point on two of three courts. The duo of
Christian Cantos Siemers and
Pepe Miralles were tied 6-6 on court No. 2 before the match was declared unfinished.
