MOREHEAD, Ky. – Six players, including three newcomers, scored in double figures as Eastern Kentucky University beat Morehead State, 107-93, in an exhibition game on Monday at Johnson Arena.
Freshman
MJ Williams scored a game-best 23 points. He also had five assists and no turnovers in 26 minutes of action.
Montavious Myrick, in his third year in the program, had 15 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Juan Cranford Jr., who transferred from Saint Francis, scored 14 points and handed out six assists. Redshirt junior

EKU will begin the 2025-26 regular season against Midway University on Nov. 6. That game will be played at the Seabury Center on the campus of Berea College at 8 p.m. The Colonels will play their first game of the season in Baptist Health Arena against in-state rival Western Kentucky on Nov. 10.

EKU made 16 three-pointers and shot 56% from the field for the game. The team shot 63% from the field and made 9-of-15 three-pointers on its way to scoring 59 points in the second half.
The Colonels trailed by as many as nine in the first half and were down by six when Williams started to knock down 3-pointers. Four consecutive EKU baskets were from long range by Williams. He tied it at 23-23 and then again at 29-29 with his fourth triple.
Cranford's 3-pointer from the right wing with 4:59 before halftime put EKU ahead 38-35. A free throw from Williams stretched the margin to five, 44-39. The Eagles tied it at 46-46 before Williams hit two more free throws to close out the first half.
The freshman scored 20 points in the first 20 minutes, going 6-for-8 from the field and 4-of-6 from behind the arc.
Morehead State closed a 6-point deficit to three, 67-64, on a layup from Tyonne Farrell with 14:26 left in the game. EKU responded with an 18-7 run to pull ahead by 14 points. Holt hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 10 of the 18. Cranford's jumper from the left elbow made it 85-71 with 9:14 to go.
The largest lead of the game for the Colonels came when Myrick converted an old-fashioned 3-point play and redshirt freshman
Jayden Harris connected on a 3-pointer for a 19-point advantage, 105-86, with 2:24 on the clock.
Farrell led the Eagles with 17 points. MSU shot 53% from the field for the game.
