Volleyball To Host Queens And West Georgia This Weekend

RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University's volleyball team returns to campus to host Queens University of Charlotte and the University of West Georgia this weekend.
 
Friday's tilt with Queens is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET.  Sunday's contest against UWG is set for noon.  Both matches will air live on ESPN+.
 
There will be a TV raffle at Friday's match.  The annual Dig Pink match, with FREE pink rally towels being given away, will be on Sunday.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU split a pair of road matches last weekend, sweeping Austin Peay, 3-0, before falling 3-0 to Lipscomb.  The Colonels are 10-6 overall and 2-2 in ASUN matches.
 
-  Over EKU's last three matches, junior setter Emilee Hill is averaging 3.91 kills, 5.82 assists and 3.00 digs per set.  During that span, she has only made 10 errors in 91 attempts and has a .363 attack percentage.
 
Carson Ledford moved into EKU's top-10 for career block assists against Austin Peay.  She now has 296 career block assists, which is the ninth-most in program history.
 
-  EKU leads the ASUN Conference in assists (12.95/set) and kills (13.58/set).  As a team, the Colonels are second in the league in hitting percentage (.254).
 
AG Hynes is sixth in the conference with a .338 hitting percentage, eighth with 3.03 kills per set and 10th with 3.38 points per set.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Queens is 11-6 this season and 2-2 in league matches.  The Royals won at Stetson, 3-2, last Friday before falling at Florida Gulf Coast, 3-1, on Sunday.  
 
-  The Royals offer a balanced offensive attack with four players averaging between 2.20 and 2.77 kills per set.  Callie DeSchryver leads the team at 2.77 per set while hitting .202.  The tandem of Emma Norris and Camryn Teasley average 1.14 blocks per set each.  As a team, Queens leads the conference in points (17.33/set), opponent hitting percentage (.193), blocks (2.36/set) and digs (16.45/set). 
 
-  West Georgia is 2-15 this season and 0-4 in ASUN matches.  The Wolves have lost five straight, including a pair of shutouts at FGCU and Stetson last weekend.
 
-  Valiree Schmus leads the team with 2.60 kills per set.  She has 152 more attempts than anyone else on the team and is hitting .096 on the season.  UWG has allowed the most aces in the ASUN with 125, or 2.36 per set. 
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels are 4-0 all-time against Queens with the first meeting coming in 2022. 
 
-  West Georgia has a 2-1 lead in the series, with both wins coming before the Wolves joined the Atlantic Sun Conference before the 2024 season.  EKU won the first conference match 3-0 last season in Carrollton.
