Box Score (pdf)

FORT MYERS, Fla. –
Eastern Kentucky University began play in the 2025 Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament with a 3-1 victory over No. 6 seed Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday at Alico Arena in Fort Myers.

The third seeded Colonels will face the winner of the No. 2 Jacksonville/No. 7 North Alabama match in the semifinals on Friday at 4 p.m. ET.  All tournament matches will air live on ESPN+.

EKU (21-8) won by scores of 25-14, 25-19, 20-25 and 25-14.

The Colonels totaled 18 blocks in the match, including 11 in the first two sets combined.  Sophomore Caitlyn Flees led the team with nine blocks.  Emilee Hill, the 2025 ASUN Player of the Year, finished with 10 kills, 14 assists, 11 digs and eight blocks.  It was her ninth triple-double of the season.

EKU took control early in the first set.  After a service error gave Queens a 5-4 lead, the Colonels scored five straight and eight of nine.  A service error by the Royals tied it.  Amanda Mack's kill down the sideline made it 9-5.  Carson Ledford's kill put EKU ahead 12-6.  Three straight including a block from Hill and Flees gave their team a 10-point advantage, 20-10.  Back-to-back attack errors from Queens handed the opener to the Colonels.

Queens had an 8-4 lead in the second set before EKU got going.  A 5-1 run, capped by a block from Flees and Hill, tied it at 9-9.  After the Royals went in front 10-9, the Colonels scored eight straight.  Hill's kill and an attack error pushed the margin to 17-10.  Flees and Hill teamed for another block to end the set and put EKU in front 2-0.

The third set remained close throughout.  Queens took a late 3-point lead, 21-18, on a solo block from Emma Norris.  Mia McMillen's kill won the set and kept the match alive.  The Royals out-blocked EKU 8-4 in the third set.

Queens (18-12) led again early in the fourth, going in front 5-4 on an EKU error.  However, a service error from the Royals stated an 8-0 run for the Colonels.  A kill from AG Hynes made it 12-5.  A Queens attack error put EKU on top 18-9.  Addison Burke ended the match with a kill.

Ledford had seven kills and seven blocks.

McMillen led Queens with 13 kills.  Norris had 10 blocks as the Royals blocked 15 attacks as a team.

EKU limited Queens to a .062 attack percentage.
