FORT MYERS, Fla. – Eastern Kentucky University, the No. 3 seed, lost to fourth seeded Central Arkansas, 3-1, in the championship match of the Atlantic Sun Conference Volleyball Tournament on Sunday at Alico Arena in Fort Myers, Florida.

Central Arkansas won by scores of 25-21, 25-18, 21-25 and 25-21.

With EKU leading 11-10 in the first set, Central Arkansas put together a run to take control. A block by Gabby Tuiaana and McKinzee Haas tied it and started a 6-1 run. Tuiaana's kill capped it and gave her squad a 16-12 advantage. Laci Bohannan's kill ended the first.Â

The Sugar Bears (18-11) used another big run to take control in the second set. EKU tied it at 4-4 on a kill from
AG Hynes before UCA scored eight of the next nine. An ace from Alexis McDaniel pushed her team in front 12-5. A kill from Samantha Cousins made it 19-14. Central Arkansas took a 2-0 lead on an attack error to end the set.

The Colonels (22-9) scored the first three points in the third set trying to keep the match alive.Â
Carson Ledford and Hynes teamed for a block to make it 10-7 and force a timeout from the Sugar Bears. A kill from
Emersyn Robbins, and then a block by Robbins and Ledford, put EKU ahead 20-13. A service error ended the third.

Central Arkansas regained control early in the fourth set. After the Colonels made it 4-3 on a kill from
Caitlyn Flees, the Sugar Bears scored six of the next seven. A block from Tuiaana and Karlyn Frazier made it 10-4. An attack error handed UCA an 11-4 edge. Bohannan and Greyson Button blocked an attack to push their team in front 16-10. The Colonels closed the gap to one, 21-20, on a block by Ledford and
Addison Burke, and an ace off the serve of
Lydia Stephens. However, UCA scored the final three to win the title.

Burke led the team with 15 kills and Hynes had 10. Ledford finished with nine kills and eight blocks.Â
Cassidy Trahan contributed 15 digs.

Bohannan led all players with 24 kills to go along with a .426 attack percentage.
Â
UCA hit .262 for the match while holding the Colonels to a .192 attack percentage. EKU had six more attack errors and three fewer blocks.
