JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Eastern Kentucky University's men's basketball team will play at Jacksonville State University on Wednesday.

THE COLONELS
- EKU (3-8) closed a 22-point second half deficit to nine against No. 4 ranked mid-major Miami (Ohio) on Saturday, but couldn't complete the comeback in a 79-69 loss.
- Miami (Ohio) entered the game seventh in the nation in scoring (94.8 ppg) but the Colonels held the RedHawks almost 16 points below their average.
- EKU out-rebounded Miami (Ohio), 43-32, and has out-rebounded five of its last six opponents. The Colonels are averaging 15.5 offensive rebounds over the last eight games.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
- Jacksonville State is 4-5 overall with three of its wins coming against non-Division I teams by an average of 99-47. JSU lost on the road at Georgia State, 77-73, on Saturday.
- The Gamecocks are third in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage defense (25%), fifth in field goal percentage defense (36.1%) and 12th in scoring defense (62.1 ppg).
- Mostapha El Moutaouakkil leads the team in scoring (18.9 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg). The 6-foot-6 senior guard played two seasons at a junior college and one at Louisiana before coming to Jax State before this season.
- Against NCAA Division I teams only, the Gamecocks have averaged 64 points on 38% shooting from the field and 30% from behind the 3-point line.
INSIDE THE SERIES
- The Colonels lead the all-time series 25-15. JSU has won three of the last four meetings, including the most recent on Dec. 21, 2024 in Berea by a score of 91-80.
- EKU took a 6-point lead with 10:43 left in the game in the last meeting, but Jacksonville State answered with a 22-5 run on its way to the win.
Devontae Blanton scored 36 points on 50% shooting. Jax State shot 56% from the field and scored 58 points in the second half after hitting just 34% and scoring 33 in the first half. Jaron Pierre Jr. finished with a team-best 22 points for JSU. The Colonels shot 39% from the field for the game, going 7-for-30 (23%) from behind the arc.
