WICHITA, Kan. – The Colonels closed out the non-conference portion of its 2025-26 schedule with a 88-57 loss at Wichita State on Sunday.

Montavious Myrick scored EKU's first six points and a 3-pointer from the right wing by
Turner Buttry gave the Colonels a 9-7 lead with 15:30 left in the opening half. However, Wichita State (8-5) answered with a 12-2 run to seize control of the game. Karon Boyd started and finished the run with a 3-pointer, giving him four treys through the first 7:40 of the game. His fourth made it 19-11 at the 12:20 mark.

After EKU put an end to the run, and closed to within six, the Shockers scored 20 straight to pull away. Boyd's jumper with 2:32 to go in the first pushed the margin to 26, 39-13. The Colonels went 9:40 without scoring before a baseline jumper from Buttry ended the drought.

Juan Cranford Jr.'s 3-pointer to start the second half cut a 44-18 halftime deficit to 23, but EKU (4-9) never got any closer.

Myrick scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed six rebounds.

WSU shot 51% from the field for the game and hit on 43% of its 3-point attempts (12-of-28). Wichita State out-rebounded the visitors 49-29. The Colonels shot 28% in the first half 36% for the game.

Boyd led the Shockers with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field. He hit 4-of-8 from behind the arc. Will Berg had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

EKU will begin Atlantic Sun Conference play on Jan. 1 with a game at Queens University of Charlotte. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET.
