Colonels Begin Conference Play With Road Trip

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Eastern Kentucky University's men's basketball team will begin its Atlantic Sun Conference schedule with a road trip to Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday and the University of West Georgia on Saturday.
 
Thursday's game will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  Saturday's contest is scheduled for 2 p.m. ET.  Both games will air live on ESPN+.  The live audio broadcast of the game is available worldwide on EKUSports.com and the EKUSports app.
 
THE COLONELS
-  EKU (4-9, 0-0 ASUN) had won three of four before suffering an 88-57 loss at Wichita State on Dec. 21.
 
-  The Colonels' 11 Division I non-conference opponents are a combined 98-45 this season.  EKU's non-conference foes have a .685 winning percentage.  Five of the 11 have won 10 or more games.
 
-  EKU is 29th in the nation with 14.08 offensive rebounds per game.
 
-  EKU (28th) and Queens (46th) rank among the top-50 teams in the nation in 3-pointers per game.  The Colonels average 10.7 while the Royals make 10.2 per contest.  Queens (339th) and EKU (314th) rank among the bottom 50 teams in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage defense.  The Royals have allowed teams to shoot 37.5% from deep while the Colonels' opponents have made 36.2%.
 
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  Queens is 5-8 this season and has lost three straight.  The Royals' schedule has included losses to Villanova, Virginia, Wake Forest, No. 14 Arkansas and Auburn.  
 
- Queens averages 82.5 points per game but has allowed 89 per contest.  The Royals are shooting 47% from the field but are getting out-rebounded by 4.3 boards per game.  Nasir Mann, a 6-foot-5 senior guard in his second season at Queens, leads the team in scoring (15.2 ppg) and rebounding (5.4 rpg).
 
-  West Georgia is 6-6 this season and will host Bellarmine on Thursday.  The Wolves lost to No. 23 ranked Georgia, 103-74, on Dec. 22.  UWG averages 76 points and allows 81 per game.
 
-  Shelton Williams-Dryden leads the team in scoring (17.5 ppg), rebounding (8.9 rpg) and steals (1.5 spg).  The 6-foot-6 senior forward has hit 45% of his shots from the field and 42% (8-of-19) from 3-point range.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES
-  EKU is 3-1 all-time against Queens.  The Colonels won the most recent meeting, 86-80 in overtime, on Feb. 15, 2024 in Richmond.  EKU is 1-1 in games played in Charlotte, including losing the last one at Queens, 94-76, on Feb. 1, 2024.
 
-  The Colonels are 1-0 against West Georgia, with the first-ever meeting coming last season in Richmond on Feb. 13, 2025.  EKU won that game 95-73.
