DELAND, Fla. – A run of 16 straight points, during a defensive scoreless stretch of five minutes, sent Eastern Kentucky University to an 83-58 victory at Stetson on Saturday. It was the Colonels fifth straight win.

EKU (14-11, 8-4 ASUN) will return home for three straight games starting Thursday against Atlantic Sun Conference newcomer West Georgia at 7 p.m.

Devontae Blanton led the Colonels with 22 points each.Â
Montavious Myrick had eight points and a game-best 14 rebounds.Â
Turner Buttry broke the program record for consecutive free throws when he hit his 30th and 31st straight.

Jordan Wood gave Stetson a 2-point advantage, 8-6, with a layup at the 14:14 mark, before a Blanton free throw started the big run.Â
George Kimble III connected on a layup for a 9-8 lead and the Colonels never trailed again.

Back-to-back 3-pointers from
Mayar Wol and
Jordan Crawford extended the margin to double figures, 20-8. Wol's dunk capped the run and handed the visitors a 14-point lead, 22-8.

A jumper from Mehki Ellison broke the 5-minute scoring drought for the Hatters with 9:13 left in the opening period. A 3-pointer from Holt with 2:06 to go before halftime extended the lead to 18 points, 36-18. Stetson scored the final seven points of the first half to go to the locker room down 36-25.

The Hatters scored the first five points of the second half to get all the way within six, 36-30, but never got any closer. Blanton put an end to the run with a jumper and three straight free throws from the Colonels pushed it back to an 11-point margin, 41-30.Â

Holt scorched the nets in the second half, connecting on 5-of-8 from 3-point range. His 3-pointer from the left corner with 12:14 to go gave his team a 16-point edge, 52-36. Two consecutive three's from the redshirt sophomore, and a free throw after being fouled on the second, made it 65-43. His fifth triple of the second half gave EKU a 24-point lead, 71-47, with 7:49 to play.

With three free throws in the first half, Buttry tied Matt Witt and Arlando Johnson's program record of 29 straight makes from the charity stripe. He went back to the line with 4:29 left in the game and hit two more to break the mark. Johnson set the record in 1993-94 and Witt matched it in 2005-06.

Holt finished 7-for-14 from the field. Blanton had a game-best seven assists to go along with five rebounds. Buttry finished with 10 points.

Ellison led Stetson (7-18, 5-7 ASUN) with 15 points.

EKU shot 44% from the field for the game and went 16-for-19 (84%) at the free throw line, outscoring the Hatters by seven at the stripe. Stetson shot 43% from the field but went 3-for-21 (14%) from behind the arc.
