RICHMOND, Ky. – In front of an Earle Combs Stadium record 1,187 fans, Eastern Kentucky University lost to No. 23 Kentucky, 16-0 in seven innings, on Tuesday.

Nathan Lawson held the Wildcats to just one run in three innings of work. UK took a 1-0 lead in the third on doubles by Cole Hage and Carson Hansen.
Lawson struck out two, did not walk a batter and allowed just the two doubles in his three innings on the mound.
Kentucky (10-1) pulled away with four runs off the bullpen in the top of the fourth inning. Patrick Herrera drove in two of them with a 2-out single down the right field line.
The Wildcats exploded for nine more in the fifth. UK hit three home runs in that one inning, including a grand slam from Shaun Montoya.
Herrera finished 2-for-3 with a run and four RBIs. Nate Harris started on the mound for Kentucky and allowed just one hit and one walk in in four innings. He struck out five.

Colby Ott had the only two hits for the Colonels (0-12).
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday in Lexington. First pitch at Kentucky Proud Park is scheduled for 4 p.m. and the game will air on the SEC Network+.
