Colonels Fall In Series Opener At Lipscomb

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University scored first but Lipscomb won the Atlantic Sun Conference series opener 10-3 on Friday.
 
EKU took an early lead with a run in the first inning.  With two outs and runners at second and third, the Bisons couldn't make a play on a slow roller to third off the bat of catcher Greg Caban.  Diego Alana scored the game's first run.
 
Lipscomb (19-21, 12-7 ASUN) tied it in the second and then took a lead with four runs in the fourth.  Kai Holm drove in the first two runs with a single up the middle.
 
AJ Groeneveld finished 3-for-3 with a walk, a double and a run scored for the Colonels (7-35, 4-15 ASUN).  Caban had a 3-for-5 game with an RBI.
 
Holm went 3-for-4 with a walk, three runs and two RBIs.  Damion Kenealy Jr. hit a 2-run home run in the seventh and finished 3-for-5 with two runs and three RBIs.
 
Game two of the series has been moved up to 3 p.m. ET on Saturday.
