Winners Of Three Of Last Four, Colonels Off To Florida For Two ASUN Games

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Having won three of its last four games, Eastern Kentucky University will travel to Florida this week for Atlantic Sun Conference games against North Florida and Jacksonville.

Thursday's game at UNF will begin at 7 p.m. ET.  Saturday's contest against JU is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.  Both games will air live on ESPN+.  The live audio broadcast of the game is available worldwide on EKUSports.com and the EKUSports app.

THE COLONELS
-  EKU (7-12, 3-3 ASUN) is coming off an 89-69 home court victory against Bellarmine.  The only thing keeping the Colonels from being on a 4-game winning streak is a 3-pointer for the win at Austin Peay that came just a tenth of a second too late.

-  In its six ASUN games this season, EKU is averaging 13.8 made 3-pointers while its opponents are making 6.8 per game.  The Colonels have out-scored their conference opponents by 126 points from behind the arc.

-  EKU has shot over 50% from the field in each of the last two games, combining to make 55% of its shot attempts (56-for-102).  The Colonels shot a season-high 57.1% against Austin Peay before hitting on 52.8% against Bellarmine.

-  Jalen Cooper recorded his first double-double as a Colonel with 13 points and 14 rebounds against Bellarmine.  He tied his career-high for rebounds in a game.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
-  North Florida is 3-16 overall and 1-5 in ASUN games.  The Ospreys beat North Alabama, 105-91, on the road last week before falling at Central Arkansas, 98-69.

- UNF is last in the conference in scoring defense (90.5 ppg), field goal percentage defense (49.5%) and rebound margin (-9.95).  Kamrin Oriol leads the team in scoring (19.5 ppg) and assists (3.9 apg).  The 6-foot-3 senior guard is second in the ASUN in scoring.

-  Jacksonville sits at 7-12 on the season and 2-4 in league games.  The Dolphins, who will host Bellarmine on Thursday, have won two of their last three including a 90-68 victory at North Alabama on Saturday.

-  Jaylen Jones, a 6-foot junior guard, leads the team in scoring at 9.8 points per game.  Donovan Rivers, a 6-foot-9 junior forward, is pulling down a team-high 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 60% from the field and averaging 7.5 points per game.  JU is second in the ASUN in scoring defense (72.68 ppg) and second in rebound margin (+3.26).

INSIDE THE SERIES
-  The Colonels lead the series with North Florida 5-1.  The first meeting was on Nov. 25, 2020 in Raleigh, North Carolina.  EKU has won three straight against the Ospreys, including the most recent meeting, 86-81, on Feb. 26, 2025 in Jacksonville.
