Former Colonel John Ukomadu Signs With Detroit Pistons

RICHMOND, Ky. – Former EKU men's basketball player John Ukomadu recently signed an NBA Exhibit 10 contract with the Detroit Pistons.

Ukomadu has played for the Motor City Cruise in the G League the last two seasons.  Last year he averaged 10.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals per game.

The 6-foot-7 forward from Southfield, Michigan was also a member of the G League United team that represented the United States in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup.  He helped the U.S. capture the Cup for the first time since 1974.

Ukomadu played two seasons at EKU, wrapping up his collegiate career in 2024 by finishing second in the College Slam Dunk Championship.  He appeared in 30 games for the Atlantic Sun Conference champions in 2023-24, and averaged 5.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a 1-year, non-guaranteed NBA minimum salary agreement that gives teams a flexible way to manage training camp rosters and retain G League rights.

The 2026-27 Colonels will host Morehead State for an exhibition game on Oct. 21 at 7 p.m.  The season will officially begin on Nov. 2 when Kentucky Christian visits Baptist Health Arena.
