NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Eastern Kentucky University jumped out to an early 4-point lead but Lipscomb heated up from 3-point range and earned a 75-61 victory on Wednesday in Nashville.

Turner Buttry's 3-pointer gave the Colonels a 15-11 lead as the Bisons hit just 1-of-10 from 3-point range to start the game. However, Lipscomb hit five of its next seven from deep and used a 14-5 run to pull in front by double digits.

Ethan Duncan's 3-pointer with 4:39 left in the opening half put the home team ahead 35-24. Two more three's from Duncan pushed the margin to 14, 43-29, with 2:07 before intermission. The Bisons didn't score again in the half but the Colonels added just one basket and trailed 43-31 at the break.

After making just one of its first 10 attempts from 3-point range, Lipscomb connect on 7-of-12 the rest of the half.

The Bisons moved in front by 15, 49-34, on a pair of free throws from Charlie Williams with 15:59 left in the game. However, EKU didn't fold. A 15-4 run got the visitors back in the game.

Buttry started it with a 3-pointer from the left wing. After a bucket at the 13:22 mark, Lipscomb went 5:04 without scoring and the Colonels capped the run with 10 straight points. A 3-pointer from
MJ Williams and a reverse layup from
Montavious Myrick, with 8:40 to play, got EKU within four, 53-49.

The Bisons put a stop to the comeback bid with a 10-0 run. Or Ashkenazi's 3-pointer pushed his team ahead by 14, 63-49, with 5:51 remaining.

MJ Williams led EKU with 14 points and five assists.Â
Jalen Cooper had 10 points and seven rebounds.

Charlie Williams led Lipscomb with 18 points and eight rebounds. Duncan finished with 17 points.

The Bisons shot 42% from the field for the game and went 13-for-34 (38%) from 3-point range. The Colonels were held to 39% shooting and finished 8-for-27 from deep (30%).
