RICHMOND, Ky. – After falling behind by three with 36 seconds left in overtime, Eastern Kentucky University scored the final four points to beat West Georgia, 81-80, on Wednesday at Baptist Health Arena.

Shelton Williams-Dryden made two free throws with 1:18 left in the extra period and then put back his own miss with 36 seconds on the clock to turn a 1-point deficit into a 3-point lead, 80-77, for the Wolves.

Juan Cranford Jr. got the Colonels within one when he hit a jumper in the paint with 21.4 seconds remaining. EKU's full court pressure forced a turnover on UWG's inbound pass. With 5.9 ticks to go,
MJ Williams made two free throws to put his team ahead by one.

Josh Smith missed on a jumper at the buzzer for West Georgia.

Montavious Myrick led the Colonels with 19 points in addition to six rebounds. Williams finished with just five points, but had eight assists, six rebounds and four steals.Â

After a 3-point play from Williams-Dryden with 17:36 left in regulation drew the visitors to within six EKU used an 11-3 lead to open up a 14-point advantage. Myrick scored the first four points of the run.Â
Jackson Holt's 3-pointer from the left wing with 13:11 to go finished it off and handed the Colonels a 50-36 advantage.

The Wolves came right back with a run of their own, scoring 14 of the next 18. A 3-pointer from Smith with 8:41 on the clock made it a 4-point game, 54-50.

Six straight from West Georgia closed the gap to one, 57-56, with 6:25 remaining. JaVar Daniel tied it at 61-61 with a 3-pointer from the right wing. Williams-Dryden completed the comeback with a layup at the 4:45 mark to put his team ahead 63-61.

Turner Buttry answered on the other end with a 3-pointer from the left wing to swing the lead back to the Colonels, 64-63, with 4:28 to go. Daniel put UWG up by one with two free throws with 3:01 to play that made it 67-66. Neither team scored again until Daniel made it a 3-point game on a layup with 1:26 left.Â

Buttry had the answer again with another 3-pointer, this time from the right corner, to tie it at 69-69.

West Georgia (12-15, 6-9 ASUN) missed a shot to take the lead with 39.3 seconds remaining. The Colonels missed two attempts on their end of the court and the Wolves got the ball back with 9.3 ticks left in the game.

After a UWG timeout with 5.4 to play, Williams-Dryden missed a jumper for the win.

The Wolves shot 47% for the game, but hit just 38% (3-for-8) in overtime. The Colonels made 42% of their shots from the floor for the game, and went 4-for-8 in OT. Both teams shot less than 27% from 3-point range.
