RICHMOND, Ky. – The Eastern Kentucky University men's tennis program performed well in a home doubleheader on Saturday cruising to a 4-0 sweep over Furman and 4-1 rout of Chattanooga inside the Greg Adams Tennis Center.
 
With the pair of wins, EKU moves to 8-9 on the season and 4-2 in true home matches. The Colonels will play four of their next five matches on the road and will enter the away slate on a two-match winning streak.
 
EKU won both doubles points over Furman and Chattanooga. Senior Nuno Pinheiro and freshman Marek Nano, who appeared back in the lineup on Saturday, went 2-0 paired together on court one defeating Furman's Nicholas Dispas/Nico Snyder (6-3) and Chattanooga's Jakub Jupa/Cortland Grove (6-4).
 
In singles, playing to clinch in both matches, the Colonels dominantly won six of seven finished courts on the day all in straight sets.
 
Senior Fernando Bulnes went 2-0 on the day in singles on court two, defeating Furman's Theophile Joly 6-2, 6-1 and then Chattanooga's Julian Franzmann 6-2, 6-7, 6-3.
 
Fellow freshman Ilie Cazac also went 2-0 on the day from court three, winning over Furman's Evan Duggal 6-2, 6-2 and Chattanooga's Cortland Grove 6-2, 7-6, moving to an even 6-6 on the season in singles play.
 
EKU returns to action on Friday, Feb. 27 against Atlantic Sun Conference foe North Alabama on the road.
