Rhode Island Guard, And Louisville Native, To Transfer To EKU

RICHMOND, Ky. – Louisville native Damone King, who spent the past two seasons at the University of Rhode Island, has signed to play basketball at Eastern Kentucky University.

The 6-foot-2 guard played in 22 games and averaged 2.3 points while shooting 40% from the field at Rhode Island this past season.  King scored a season-best 12 points against Northeastern.  He redshirted at URI during the 2024-25 season.

"Damone is an extremely talented guard who brings size and experience to our backcourt," Head Coach A.W. Hamilton said.  "He's a three-level scorer who's electric in transition.  His athleticism on the perimeter fits perfectly into our pressing style."

King averaged 20 points and 5.7 rebounds on his way to earning second team all-state honors as a senior at DeSales High School in 2023-24.  The Colts went 24-10, won a district championship and reached the semifinals of the region tournament.

He averaged 16 points and 5.9 rebounds as a junior at DuPont Manual High School.  King helped the Crimsons to a 21-12 mark, a district title and a trip to the region tournament semifinals.
