Entering the matchup with a chance to move into first place, the Colonels instead fell into third in the ASUN Gold Division after dropping both games.

Game one was a low-scoring affair, with the first run not coming until the fifth inning. EKU took the lead, but a solo home run by the Governors in the bottom of the seventh forced extra innings. In extra innings, Austin Peay secured the win with a run in the ninth inning.

In game two, the Governors jumped out early and never looked back, holding EKU scoreless in an 8-0 run-rule victory.

GAME ONE - EKU 1, APSU 2

It was a pitching duel early, with both teams held scoreless until the top of the fifth inning.

Emily Mariscal drew a walk to start the frame, and
Jaelin Haynes followed with a single to move her into scoring position.
Kennedy Drafton delivered an RBI single to center field, giving EKU a 1-0 lead.

The Colonels kept Austin Peay in check through the sixth, highlighted by
Reese Knox making a leaping catch at the wall to rob a home run.

The Governors tied the game in the bottom of the seventh with a leadoff home run.

In extra innings, EKU escaped a bases-loaded threat in the eighth. After a scoreless top of the ninth, Austin Peay doubled and drove in the winning run to take a 2-1 victory.

GAME TWO - EKU 0, APSU 8

Austin Peay carried its momentum into game two, scoring four runs in the first inning. A three-run home run highlighted the early surge.

The Governors extended the lead to 7-0 through four innings, adding two runs in the third and another on a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

A throwing error by the Colonels in the sixth inning allowed the run-rule clinching run to score, sealing the 8-0 win.
