RICHMOND, Ky. – A historic year in the classroom ended with hardware for Eastern Kentucky University Athletics as the Colonels claimed the ASUN Conference Presidents' Academic Cup.
The Colonels earned the prestigious recognition after leading the conference with the highest percentage of student-athletes on the ASUN Honor Roll with grade point averages of 3.0 or higher.
"This is an impressive accomplishment our student-athletes, athletics department, and university can be proud of," said EKU Vice President and Director of Athletics
Kyle Moats. "I want to thank our student-athletes and Bratzke Center staff for their work in making this possible. I also want to recognize our coaches for their continued support of our student-athletes in the classroom. This is an achievement that speaks to our commitment as an entire department and university to providing a top-level student-athlete experience on and off the field here at EKU."
The recognition marks the culmination of two stellar semesters in the classroom by EKU student-athletes in the 2025-26 academic year.
The Colonels of Eastern Kentucky had a record-breaking fall semester in 2025 as the Colonels posted a 3.335 all-athlete grade point average (GPA), the highest ever all-athlete term GPA.
The historic academic achievement marked the 28th consecutive semester that EKU student-athletes have produced an all-athlete term GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Individually, EKU Athletics had 89 student-athletes earn perfect semester GPAs of 4.0, with 155 Dean's List and President's Award honorees, and 272 individuals earn the title of Colonel Scholar, given to EKU students with a 3.0 or higher term GPA.
This was followed in the spring of 2026 with the Colonels recording a 3.334 all-athlete GPA for the semester, with all 18 teams posting team GPAs above 3.0 for the term.
In the spring, 66 individual student-athletes earned perfect 4.0 GPAs, while 123 were named to the Dean's List with at least a 3.75 GPA.
In all, 249 EKU student-athletes were named Colonel Scholars, which indicates at least a 3.0 term GPA.
